I'm doing better

I made it through the first week of my new eating plan. That is pretty impressive considering I've also been fighting a major cold all week long. I'm no longer craving sugar and I only occasionally crave carbs. It has really been about planning out my meals. As long as I am enjoying tasty food then I don't mind missing out on all the other stuff.

Thanks to those of you who posted comments. I really appreciate your support. I have one more week of chicken, turkey, seafood, & veggies and then I get to add fruit. Wahoo! I can't wait for that.

Amanda is exited to eat her homemade guacamole.

I want candy

I have started a new eating plan. It is for 6 weeks and isn't horribly restrictive. For the first 2 weeks, I can eat vegetables, chicken, fish, turkey, and all nuts except peanuts. I'm doing it so I can really curb my sugar addiction. Today is my 2nd day on the plan and I WANT CANDY!

Of course it doesn't really help that we had a birthday celebration in my office and lots of pie from Marie Callendar's. I just stayed in my office and volunteered to answer phones.

I know that I can do this, it is just going to take a little willpower. I'll keep you updated on my progress. My parents are doing the plan too and they are about to enter their 3rd week (when you can start having fruit). My father has already bought a pineapple and some grapes in anticipation of this.

I can do it!

Amanda is thinking positively.

Things that make me happy

My last post was about something that makes me unhappy. This time I thought I would talk about things that I enjoy that make me happy. So here's a little list for you:

1) Reading a good book (especially mysteries)

2) Cooking

3) Playing Scrabble with my family (even when my father wins)

4) Playing with cats or dogs

5) Keeping up on entertainment news (I probably check about 12 websites a day)

6) Spending time with Scott, Lisa, Sage, & Livi in Oregon

7) Going to the movies

8) Going on vacation

9) Discovering new restaurants

10) Going home to Arkansas

These are just some of the things that make me happy. I would love to hear some of yours. Post them in the Comments section, if you please!

Amanda is trying to figure out what to make for Easter dinner.

Snow, snow go away!

It is once again time for me to complain about the Utah weather. It snowed yesterday morning. It snowed this morning. It is supposed to snow on Friday and Saturday.

I AM SICK OF THIS!!!! It is spring time, dang flabbit. I want to walk in the sunshine and look at green grass and beautiful flowers. I would even be happy with rain. After all, April showers bring May flowers.

I don't want to treck through snow and slush. I don't want to scrape heavy layers of refrozen ice off my car windows every morning. I want to put my snow boots away and not have to pull them out of the closet for a long time. I am tired of riding into work on train and huddling for warmth next to some stranger (and they're not cute either).

Thank you for listening to my snow rant. You people that love snow can comment about how "wonderful and magical" it is on your own blog. Oh and I don't want to hear about how snow helps the snow pack and our water levels either. Just keep it to yourself, bucko!

Amanda is seriously considering hibernating. (I think I have the build for it).
