All is Well

(I apologize in advance for not having any pictures of us together! I need to do that quick before my friends, family, and co-workers start a riot)

Robert came over this past Sunday to have dinner with the roommates. I went all out and made a spinach salad, homemade rolls, garlic lemon rosemary chicken, parmesan risotto and a strawberry trifle for dessert.

I think everyone had lots of fun and I was happy that the most important gals in my life got to meet the most important guy in my life.

This weekend we're going out Friday & Saturday so it should be lots of fun. I'll really make an effort to remember to get pictures. I don't know where my mind goes these days.

Amanda is leaving work now.

My Birthday

I had a fantastic 32nd birthday!! I'm attaching a picture of the flowers that Robert brought me. (He also brought balloons but I didn't take a picture of those). It was very low key (just the way I wanted it). We went out to dinner and then wandered around the mall (we had quite a bit of time to kill before our movie). Robert sang me Happy Birthday in Korean (where he served his mission) in the middle of the Hallmark store. It was so cute! Then we wandered around the theater and got some ice cream before the movie (Ghost Writer). It was a Hitchcock type thriller which I really enjoyed. So yep I had a great birthday. Plus I get to celebrate again this coming weekend with my roommates and friends.

I'm slowly easing Robert into my social whirl (he prefers to meet people in smaller groups). He's coming over on Sunday and I'm making dinner and he'll get to meet my roommates.

Amanda is so happy!

Observations from the DMV

I had to get my driver's license renewed (and a new picture) before my birthday this Friday. Lucky me - I got to trek to the DMV twice in one day. Grrrrr!!

First I went to the Draper DMV where I discovered that I needed a copy of my birth certificate (as my license had been issued prior to 2001). Apparently that fun little fact was in teeny tiny print at the bottom of the page.

I didn't feel like driving all the way down to Draper again - you get off at the same exit as the prison. This was a first time for me - contrary to my smart remarks about hanging outside the prison gates to fine a man. I was having lunch downtown so I decided to check out the Fairgrounds DMV. Let me say that sweatpants are not out of fashion there! Neither are gold purses or pants on fat women that are so tight you can see their underwear outline. Gross! I got my number and then waited in line for 2 hours for my license. It would help a lot if all the DMV employees could actually be at their stations instead of taking breaks every 3 minutes. After a while we started nicknaming all the workers - Chatty Cathy, Lady 11, Old Man Simmons, Lakeesha, Man in Tan, Old Lady 65, etc.

I am happy to say I now have my license and I hope to never go back to the Fairgrounds DMV again in this lifetime. If I do it will mean I've died and gone straight to Hell.

Amanda is having a birthday and a date this Friday!

Reasons I don't like being sick

I've been fighting off a cold over the past week and I realized there are a lot of irritating things about being sick. So I've decided to blog about them. Aren't you lucky?

1. You never have to sneeze, blow your nose, or cough at a convenient time.

Nope, it is always during a particularly quiet moment in church when everyone can hear you! Or like last night when I was on the phone with this guy I like and I start having a coughing attack and have to end our little chat early.

2. My nose looks spectacular - all red with little bits of skin flaking off. I'm gorgeous!!

3. It is very hard to "get lots of rest" when you wake yourself up by coughing every few minutes.

4. There is no point in eating if you can't taste your food. Best diet ever, I swear! I was reduced to pouring hot sauce over mashed potatoes just to try and taste a little something. (It sounds gross but potatoes were what I was craving at the time)

5. My voice gets very deep. Although some people may find that sexy, I prefer the sound of my own voice. I could scare little children by calling them and saying "Is your mother home?" in a creepy voice. Or I could quite possibly audition for a special kind of "phone operator" job!

That is the end of my rant on being sick. I'm on the mend (thank goodness, since I have a date on Saturday night)

Amanda is not a fan of Halls Mentho-Lyptus cherry cough drops.
